WARRINGAH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRIES TAKE SPAM SERIOUSLY

Warringah Chamber of Commerce & Industries encourages safe internet practice and encourages small business members, expired members, executives, subscribers and/or visitors to be aware of the SPAM ACT for all marketing - online, emailed, cold calling, sms or smart phone applications.

Any small business members, expired members, executives, subscribers and/or visitors of Warringah Chamber of Commerce & Industries website in breach of prohibited harvesting without legitimate consent will be reported to The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and penalties can apply.

Under the Spam Act 2003 it is illegal to send, or cause to be sent, unsolicited commercial electronic messages.

The Act covers email, instant messaging, SMS and MMS (text and image-based mobile phone messaging) and posting of unauthorised events on Warringah Chamber social channels that could be mistaken as a Chamber endorsement) of a commercial nature.

Spam is a generic term used to describe electronic 'junk mail' – unwanted messages sent to a person's email account or mobile phone.

Name usage and Third Party Marketing

Warringah Chamber of Commerce & Industries do not allow usage of name without consent.

Third party marketing is when you decide to market your or another product or service to your subscribers.

It can also occur if you are a start-up business, switch company names, acquire a new business, etc. Any time you are sending as Company A and either send on behalf of or mention an association with Warringah Chamber of Commerce & Industries as Company B, it can and will cause confusion.

The issue here is your subscribers signed up to receive information about you and your products by misleading practices.

Any small business members, expired members, executives, subscribers and/or visitors in violation of our terms will be reported to The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and immediate permanent suspension of membership can be applied.
